WELCOME TO FACULTY OF MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING WEB PORTAL

Department of Manufacturing Engineering has been established in 2008 to support Malaysia commitment to improve the economy through manufacturing and services sectors. Based on Malaysia’s Third Long-term Plan Framework from 2002 until 2010, the government has recognized the need for highly skilled professional workers to ensure the success of National Industrial Plan (NIP).
Therefore, more institutes of higher learning and experts are needed to fulfil this requirement. It is hoped that the establishment of the faculty will be able to produce highly competent engineers equipped with all the needed skills and knowledge in order to meet the industrial needs. Based on Ninth Malaysia Plan (RMK-9), the priority is given to the development of human capitals.
The establishment of Department of Manufacturing Engineering indicates a significant step by Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) to produce human capitals in the field of manufacturing and mechatronics engineering. The manufacturing engineering and mechatronics engineering programmes are designed to produce graduates with adequate knowledge and skills to fulfil the industrial requirements.
On August 2007, Ministry of Higher Education has launched Higher Education Strategic Planning - Beyond 2020, where one of the important agenda is to enhance the nation global competitiveness through innovative system such as:
"Integration of science, technology and engineering in manufacturing process and production to produce value-added and technologically incentive products.”
Importance of human capital is:
“Enhancement of man power percentage with tertiary education to 33 percent in the year 2020”
Therefore, the establishment of Department of Manufacturing Engineering is in line with nation needs to produce human capitals who involve directly in manufacturing process and production to produce value-added and technologically incentive products.
